Don’t miss this year’s Carol Service to be held in the Church at 3pm on Sunday 23rd December.

We are very lucky to have living in our midst a professional soprano – director of the international vocal group Synergy Vocals, and a former member of the BBC Singers and The Swingle Singers – Micaela Haslam.

She will be singing The Virgin’s Cradle-Hymn by Herbert Fryer (early 20^th century – in Latin) and an aria from Handel’s Messiah. Most importantly, she’d love you all to know that her name rhymes with “Delilah” – not “inhaler”

The rainy season continues. Determined villagers splash their way through huge puddles in the lower part of the village to reach Rectory Farm.

After two days of torrential rain it was pleasant to have a dry, mild evening for the three quarters of a mile walk to Magpie Farm, undertaken by at least some of the revellers.

Yesterday was a mere shower compared with today’s “monsoon”! Undeterred by the apparent start of the rainy season, over thirty people turned out, complete with an array of colourful umbrellas. To the revellers’ great joy, a large outbuilding offered a refuge for the nightly drinks and refreshments.

After two whole weeks of fine evenings the inevitable rain finally arrived. Hardy villagers splashed their way through puddles to be at the Old Vicarage by 6.30 when, astonishingly, the rain relented just long enough for refreshments to be taken and the decorated window to be admired! It was raining heavily once more when everyone departed for their firesides….
