Village Advent Celebrations 2019. December 4th. Eagles Court, Helmdon Road.

Four down and only twenty to go! Another very fine, cold and clear night. A window with a message to which we all say a fervent “Amen”.

Some information about the Eagles Court site recycled from a previous year:

In the early 1950s the site on which Eagles Court now stands was a disused farmyard. It contained a large stone barn, now demolished, which can be seen on the right of the picture. It was dark and dreary inside but it did contain, of all things, a full sized billiard table and those of us in the know were able quietly to gain access….

The derelict condition of the barn can be seen in the above picture of me, aged about 12, shooting rats, another attraction in this deserted area. Schoolboys’ socks in those days were designed to be worn one up and one down.
