New visitors to this website may find some interest in the following information about Hill Farmhouse from last year’s advent calendar windows:
For many years after the war, Hill Farm House was the home of Fred and Edie Golby. Fred farmed land to the north of the village and was a regular member of Sulgrave cricket team until its demise in the early fifties. He was also a keen billiard player and member of several league winning teams.
On the left Fred’s wife Edie , born Edie Franklin in the cottage now known as “Endways”, Manor Road. Picture taken in the fifties, using an expendable magnesium filled flash bulb with folding Brownie camera.
Just before I took this photo, the eastern end wall of the building suddenly and mysteriously collapsed into the yard overnight – a village “seven day wonder”! It was rebuilt in brick, as can be seen in the next photo:

Great window Julian and Dillon! I was really wondering what it would be this year and you haven’t failed!
Pub opening looks as though everyone enjoyed themselves including Toffee.
