Report and photographs by Graham Roberts
Organisers of the Midland region of the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain included a stop at Sulgrave Manor in the planning of their Annual Rally and on Saturday 29th August , 26 Veteran cars with their drivers, passengers and guests arrived between 11.00 AM and 12.00 Noon and were welcomed onto the events field adjacent to Madams Close.
The visitors were neatly assembled in a row allowing visitors to the Manor an opportunity to admire the road vehicles whilst the drivers and their guests had a welcome lunch in the Manor followed by a brief tour of the manor House before departing just after 2.30 PM
Veteran cars are those that were built before or during December 1919. A number of the vehicles present, which were built before December 1904, had participated in the famous London to Brighton veteran car rally.
A number of photographs were taken during the visit some of which are shown on the next page.
In 1954 the Vintage Sports Car Club and the British Travel Association Held an Anglo American Vintage Car Rally from Scotland to Winchester which called for lunch at Sulgrave Manor. Unfortunately I think I must have been at school as I cannot remember the event.
