A Sulgrave Wedding

On Saturday 30th April, beautifully sunny spring weather blessed the wedding of Angharad Lloyd and Russell Downing at the Church of St James the Less, Sulgrave.

Angharad is the only daughter of Hywel and Ingram Lloyd of Church Cottage, Sulgrave and so the bride had a very short walk to the church, beautifully decorated with flowers for the occasion:

An equally short walk awaited the newlyweds and their guests to the reception at the rear of Church Cottage where more flowers greeted them in a marquee commanding magnificent views of the countryside to the south of the village:

Ingram puts a finishing touch to the flowers

A nice touch for a small guest

Wedding fever from the previous day’s royal marriage spills over into the village:

The guests begin to arrive:

Caerwyn on usher duties to see that all is well in the church…..

….before returning to escort Ingram…..

The bridesmaids……

…..a last look back before going into the church…..

……wellwishers await to greet the newlyweds….

….some dozing peacefully in the sun…..

Angharad poses by the “Beetle” which has been a feature of Church Street since she was a little girl…

A final view of the strategically placed marquee….

  1. Hywel Lloyd says:

Congratulations to Colin Wootton, the webmaster of the Sulgrave website, for his excellent photographs; Colin really caught the very happy atmosphere of the day.

So, may Ingram and I say a massive THANK YOU to everyone of the many helpers who arranged flowers, cleared the field, fixed electrics and water, moved chairs, and many other activities; and those who came to wave us along.

For Russell and Angharad and all of us, it was such a marvellous day, a lovely church, and with such beautiful weather.

    Hywel Lloyd
