Sulgrave Produce Show

Sulgrave Produce Show will be held in Sulgrave Church Hall on Saturday 4th September 2010 from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

The show is being organised by Janet Smith and Maureen Jeffrey (also known as Foodsmiths.) Entry is restricted to residents of Sulgrave and Stuchbury, past or present, and members of Culworth with Sulgrave WI.

Admission to the show is free but you will have plenty of opportunity to contribute generously to the Teas, Raffle and Produce Stall.

Entries will be judged by:  Chris Smith, Head Gardener of Canons Ashby National Trust Property and Ali Templeton, Broadcaster and author of “Going Green”

Entries can be submitted in the following classes:

VEGETABLE AND FRUIT CLASSES

1. Three carrots, long, short or stumped – tops cut to 4″ approx

2. Leeks – a pair

3. Three beetroot – tops cut to 4″ approx

4. Three potatoes of one variety

5. Three runner beans with stalks

6. Longest runner beans

7. Five cherry tomatoes

8. Three round tomatoes

9. Three onions, any variety

10. Three courgettes

11. Lettuce – a pair

12. Five single assorted vegetables

13. Three apples of one variety – eating

14. Three apples of one variety – cooking

15. Three pears of one variety

16. Saucer of one variety of soft or stone fruit

COOKERY CLASSES

17. Jar of jam

18. Jar of orange marmalade

19. Jar of lemon curd

20. Jar of chutney – any variety

21. Six flapjacks

22. Six chocolate brownies

23. Victoria sponge sandwich – raspberry jam but no cream

24. Fruit cake – undecorated, round or loaf tin

25. Loaf of bread – any sort any shape

26. Bottle of home-made cordial or liqueur

FLOWER ARRANGING CLASSES
(Flowers may be purchased)

27. Miniature arrangement in a cup and saucer

28. A buttonhole – lady’s, for a summer wedding

CUT FLOWERS

29. One fragrant rose bloom

30. Three rose blooms of one variety

31. Three stems of any garden flower, one variety

32. Collection of autumn foliage and/or berries

33. Vase of mixed garden flowers (18 stems max) No Oasis

34. Jug of mixed herbs

CHILDREN’S CLASSES
Age 11 and under –  age to be stated on all entries please

35. Decorate a 13cm flower pot

36. Make a beach on a 30cm max plate

37. Animal made of vegetables/fruit/flowers

38. Flower or vegetable grown by entrant, any number

39. Four home made biscuits

40. Four fairy cakes to judged for decoration (cakes can be bought)

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. All entries to have been made or grown by the entrant, (unless otherwise stated)

2. Staging of entries to take place in the hall between 8.30 am and 10.15 am on the day of the show (Judging commences at 11 am prompt)

3. Exhibitors are allowed one entry per class

4. Exhibitor entry fee – Adult 50p, Child 25p for any number of classes

5. Prizes will be awarded in children’s classes only

6. The Show will be open from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

PLEASE NOTE:

All entries to be removed between 4.00 pm and 4.30 pm

No liability is accepted for exhibits or their containers

Vases, plates etc., to be provided by the exhibitor.

ENTRY FORMS AND FEES to be with Maureen or Janet by 8.00 pm on WEDNESDAY 1st SEPTEMBER. We regret that no entries can be accepted after this deadline
