Susan Hilton’s wonderful cooking at The Star Inn has won the village pub the coveted Hook Norton Brewery “Food Champion of the Year” award. Susan is seen here relaxing outside with the award, whilst Sam pulls a celebratory pint….

Susan is no stranger to awards for her cooking, having been awarded the 1986 “Pub Caterer of the Year” at the Inn, Farnborough (then known as the Butcher’s Arms) and the 2001 “Fish Pub of the Year” by the Good Food Guide when at the Three Conies, Thorpe Mandeville. Fish is very much her speciality and “newly landed” catches of all kinds are regularly available, as can be seen in the example below…..

The Hook Norton Brewery has been brewing beer by traditional methods in the same building for over 150 years and the Star Inn is just one of more than 40 of its pubs. Shire horses and drays deliver beer in the immediate Hook Norton area and the team visited Sulgrave in 2004 for the Castle Green opening day:
