Andrea Leadsom MP presents Village Shop prizes

Village Shop Management Committee Members greet Andrea Leadsom MP (right)

On an extremely wet Friday afternoon, local constituency MP Andrea Leadsom made time in her busy parliamentary schedule to visit the village and present prizes to the winners of the Village Community Shop logo competition. The visit was the culmination of Sulgrave’s participation in the national “Community Shops Fortnight” during which there were daily discounts on many popular items in store.

It was a particularly wet afternoon even for this appallingly wet summer.

However, as always it was snug and cheerful inside for Andrea to meet two of the shop’s many volunteer assistants.

Explanations as to exactly how the shop functions.

Andrea presents the prize to the winner of the adult section of the logo competition – Peter Anderson, a former resident of Sulgrave, now living in Wappenham. The winning entry was: “I love Sulgrave Village Shop because it’s ours“.

Anya explains that the winner of the Childrens’ section of the competition is unable to be present. He is Charlie Brett of Little Street, Sulgrave. Charlie is almost 10 years old and his winning entry was: “I love Sulgrave Village Shop because of all the lovely things it’s got“.

Anya receives the prize on behalf of Charlie.

The work of running the shop goes on.

Darryl-Louise provides some information for the press.

Andrea seems to have enjoyed her visit to the Community Shop (perhaps a welcome break from the House of Commons Treasury Committee and the banking crisis).
